He should be a good signing although I'd sooner see us bringing younger blokes in. Getting rid of the young and bringing in older guys is not necessarily the way forward. I just hope McClennan doesnt try and bring all his former Leeds English players down who just want to say they have played NRL footy. John Monie failed when he brought Andy Platt & Denis Betts down and look what happened there.

Different scenario, in '95 there wasn't the talent resource available with the introduction of expansion teams so Monie had to look elsewhere.

Leuluai is better than what the NZ Warrirors currently have so it's hardly a step back bringing in a current international with his best years ahead of him. NZ have great kids coming through but they'll need guidance from elite players like Leuluai, Mannering and Vatuvei.

He's only 26 and he's a world class player

Leuluai is class. I'm constantly amazed at how hard he hits for a little bloke. Would have loved him at Leeds.
It's a bit daft to call him old when he's obviously not and also a bit daft to suggest McClennan is bringing in all his old Leeds mates when he was only at Leeds for 3 years and Leuluai didn't play for Leeds.

Also it was the Leeds players that got McClennan kicked out of the club a year before his contract was up so I doubt they'd join him in Auckland.

A halfback partnership of Johnson and Leuluai would be very good. Alternatively, Tommy at 9 and Godinet and Johnson in the halves would go well too.

In pre season I saw him play for the Auckland Vulcans against the Warriors u20s and thought he played really well and stood out but then I never saw him again as I came back to England. How did he progress during last season for them?
