Post subject: Government proposes end of the Sick note

I see those caring Tories are now looking to attack the Sick Note.
Apparently GP's all live in a climate of fear, from feckless scroungers who force them to put them on the long term sick.
As a result the government is looking to remove the GP from being responsible for issuing sick notes. Instead it looks like a Quango is planned to be set up to manage such matters.
Can just imagine this Quango being given a target for sick notes issued over a period. Once that is exceeded its no more sick notes for people regardless of their illness. People will then be told they have no valid reason to not be in work. They will then be forced to go in work or be in breach of the companies employment rules. Thereby allowing the company to sack them.

What the hell are we going to do with all these wastrels once we've sacked them?
We need some sort of place to send them to do forced work for subsistence food, some sort of Workhouse perhaps?

spot on GG. If this goes ahead i can see people dying or ending up more seriously ill than they were originally. I was signed off for 3 months initially,looking back i probably should have been off at least another month or 2. with the new rules that might come in no way would they have signed me off for so long. many people are going to suffer if this happens. very wrong. scummy politicians.

Before the end of this parliament we'll be back to beds in corridors because after all the hospital closures, there simply won't be the availability of beds on existing wards.

University degree courses should be sliced in half to 18 months because, for most students, there is too much time wasted, he claims. "Most students are twiddling their thumbs. Many only get one lecture a week. This is nonsense, particularly with tuition fees so high."
Things must have changed drastically from when I went to uni 20odd years ago.
