McNamara needs applauding in the way he's seemingly pulled the team together and made them a cohesive unit.

He might not be the best technical coach but it seems, on evidence, that he's a good people coach. The England camp has been in supposed disarray these last few years with spats and divisions throughout the team - You can't say that under McNamara, from what I understand.

Look at the difference in quality, is it any wonder performances have improved?

Indeed. I'd have liked to have seen what this current squad woul've been like if they were coached by TS.

If a team loses, then the coach and players are usually blamed regardless of the circumstances, and equally if a team wins but plays poorly then a majority of fans are normally too one-eyed to see the weaknesses. The truth is that both Australia and NZ are as weak on paper as I can remember, whereas England are as strong as I can remember. England were poor last night, and will need to improve massively to beat Australia next week. If they do beat Australia then credit goes to McNamara for achieving his goals, but I've seen nothing from him as yet to suggest he is capable of that level of improvement.

I wont get carried away by the performance from England but they were not poor. Yes they will need to improve to beat Australia next week but for England it should be a long term project for a sustainable squad heading towards peaking at the 2013 world cup.

Why English people need to be negative I don't know, that's also a big difference is confident culture.

The bigger issue and one for another time is the quality of physical education in English primary schools, the teachers are not trained properly to develop core physical literacy and this is the major cause in a smaller talent pool across the board as children do not reach their potential.

My earlier thread was my doubt in him having a game plan to control a game. Will he still be the man for the world cup 2013.

Yes i think hes the bloke still for the job honestly i thin it has to be said tonights dire performance was way more down to lame individual performance on the field rather than McNamara's tactics.Although admitidley one or 2 team choices have come back to haunt us i just knew Sinfield was gonna stink ellend road out hes useless for England kicking is abhorrant Back to McNamara as i had previously said he will have a greater pool of players either who are now injured or untried ie lomax mossop gaskell
ps BROUGH surely couldnt have been worse than sinfield

Why is he the man for the job? What justification could you possibly have to suggest that he's capable of coaching a top level international team?

England were equally as poor last week, and performed to their potential for about 40 minutes against Australia but still lost comfortably in the end. McNamara's club record is appalling and his international record is equally bad.
