Think that is being overly harsh on him TBH. He wasn't up there with the best loose forwards in the league no but considering he was self admittedly overweight he still put 80 mins in and I think was within the top 30 tacklers in the league. I fully expect a better season out of him, he's better than the 2011 season we all agree with that but I believe Scott still put 100% in to every game, he did some very good things out there and in all honesty Dobson has stifled his game. Scott is arguably our best kicker in open play yet see's very little of the ball. Those of you who were not around in 2005/6 will probably not remember though!!!

How a professional sportsman doesn't strive to be as fit as possible in their peak years is beyond me in the first place.

If Murrell was allowed to be overweight that is more a comment on the conditioner/nutritionist/coach than the player himself. Let's hope that Rovers will never again allow such a lax approach to player preparation.

I think a balance needs to be struck here.

Last season Murrell was expected to fill in for Dobbo after he had been asked to bulk up a stone in weight for the loose forward position. In doing both, in my opinion, he lost confidence because what pace he did have disappeared, and was always struggling to get it back.

With hindsight, it was foolish on the part of Justin to expect Murrell to cover for Dobson after asking him to bulk up. I couldn't fathom the reasoning behind the decision for Murrell to bulk up, especially when he had shown in the previous season he was more than effective at loose at a lesser weight.

One last point, there has been a lot said about Rovers fitness levels last season,again perspective is needed. For the most part of last season Rovers spent it on the back foot defending for long energy sapping periods. If anything, it was testament to the players high levels of fitness that the team managed to scrape into the play-offs. Lets face it, Rovers go-forward last season was well below standard.
