I like him but I can see why a new coach wants a strong steady squad that follows his orders rather than an off the cuff player. Won't be upset if we sign him but there are others and we shouldn't be breaking the bank or the quota spot for him.
Its no secret that a they want a strong side thats hard to play against and break down and i understand that theory, than may well work untill we get susssed out and become predictable. I suppose whatever the club do it will not please some but i have to say WE NEED some rugby to be played at BV next season and we need to be entertained, maybe those closer to players like Tongia can see problems with is game, maybe not.

Hull have been predictable for three years though. Will we have a different style as what Kear was playing im not sure? Those that were criticising Kear maybe in for a fall. I am given Agar the benefit of the doubt but we need some spark in the side. Its a must we will get sussed out otherwise. Tongia I thought his defence was pretty good. He dropped it a couple of times but if you stand out in the side we had surely he can be stronger in a better side?

And as we all know from your assessment of previous fullbacks, you are the expert on fullback play.

I know it is a rediculous comparison but Tongia is much like Henry Paul when he first came to Wakefield
It was obvious he was something special and he was very entertaining to watch but at first he took some criticism for just going his own way. The defence didn't know what he was going to do but neither did his own team. The difference for Henry was that he was good enough to make "going on his own" successful and he dragged the other to his standard while settling in to the general team play. Tongia unfortunately doesn't have that level of skill so although it is entertaining to watch him do the chip over the top and possibly score a great try, if it doesn't come off he has given the ball away when the rest of the team were trying to build pressure. With another year to develop with a top team I think Tongia could be very good. The problem I guess for Agar is whether he wants to wait or just buy someone less flashy who fits in with the team.
It would be great to watch him develop but as we are rebuilding we are making tough decisions and he possibly won't be taken forward by the club.

The thing about Tongia for me is, he offers something that a coach cant give you or coach against, unpredictability! Its not hard to see that returning the ball, anything can happen, and sometimes that will score you a try, result in a try through a break or cost you. I think if we are going to be a difficult to play against this year, and attempt to win the arm wrestle in most games, we can still affordl one Tongia type player, because we still need some excitement as well.

well the fans must have seen something in him seen as the majority of us agree we should take him on, and so must have the board seen as they allegedly signed him up for next season before Agar came in. The only person who doesnt it would seem is Agar, makes you wonder if he even saw him play for us.
