Hi Everyone,

Off the to Championship Finals on Sunday and just wondering if you could recommend any pubs close to the ground and also tell me what beer is like in the ground and how much it is?

Cheers!

'The Rodney' across the road from the ground is fine, you can't miss it. £3.40 a pint in the HJ, quality reasonable. Just glad Halifax and their twisted firestarter didn't make the final. Have a great day.

The Lower Angel in Buttermarket Street about five minutes walk from the ground.

Only a small boozer but arguably the best pint in town.

i'll second that !! Porters do some cracking real ales as well but im not sure they'd be to open to the idea of being full of rugby fans (what with their no sportswear rule)

Lower Angel as has already been mentioned, The Tavern's a cracking pub, good atmosphere and great ale but does get packed on match days.

If you're into your real ales, I can wholeheartedly recommend ANY of the fine hostelries at the bottom end of Bridge Street.
Beautifully kept, hand drawn beers, served in a genteel, convivial atmosphere, where the only noise can be heard, is the gentle click-clack of domino on table, and the shout for an arrived Bentley for Mrs Fortesque-Smythe (90), to take her back to her country spread in WA2.

Fine, home cooked fare, can also be found at any of the fine 'eateries' which also adorn Bridge Street's bottom end. May I be so bold, as to point you in the direction of the many such 'Michelin star rated' establishments. If your preference is thinly sliced 'lamb', garnished with rocket, campari tomatoes, shallottes, in a delicate Mexican sauce, served in an envelope of greek warm bread, I'm sure you wont be disappointed with the many options open to you.

Should you wish for transport away from these places after your trip to Bridge Street, many of the locals prefer a vehicle called a 'black Maria', which very rapidly takes them away from Bridge Street. However, their final drop off point is only a mere 400m away, at Arpley Steet. They tend to use one of that building's smaller rooms for a short while.

Personally, I'd stear well clear of 'The Tavern' where their beer can only be described as 'as weak as a vicar's handshake' and having less taste than a cardboard sandwich. This is also a pub noted for gang violence, drug running and prostitution, as well as having dried blood on the toilet walls, and smelling worse than Granox, Widnes....avoid

Neither glass half full or empty. Just a realist.
