Whenever I think of John Kear, apart from hard boiled eggs, I think of that interview he did after the CC final. 'I'm a little bit excited'. Sweet. Oh, and his finger tapping. I think of that too.
Me: I'm still reeling from the news that someone is considering watching the 1st and 3rd game on Saturday and NOT watching Warrington play. It's like being in Shea Stadium when the Beatles came to town and deciding to nip out for a fag.
knockersbumpMKII: Is it FOOK, you're good but you're not THAT good, jesus you wanky fans need to get over yourselves, Beatles at the Shea in '65 was a once in a lifetime opportunity for some (despite the following years performance), you can watch a very good team in primrose & yellow play every week if you really wanted to but comparing it to one of the very best music groups of all time in an iconic stadia such as the shea is overegging your importance, you're not even the best team in SL atm
That's a major coup from Batley. Maybe Kear is getting on a bit now so he is winding down his coaching career and moving more to media work.
I think Kear is like Graham Taylor in football, people used to ridicule him earlier in his career (unfairly) but he ended up winning people over by showing he was a good coach and in an era of foreign coaches and methods he's always been one for giving young players a chance, I wonder how many other coaches would have picked a halfback out of National League Two and made him a starter in SL like he did Brough, or dug Atkins out of Bradford's Academy and turned him into a top centre. Taylor is the same and on top of that both of them come over as really top blokes who just love the game and so make good TV/radio people.
