Going back to the title "Man of Steel", I'm not sure if my memory is playing tricks on me, but wasn't the winner so named because originally the sponsor was British Steel. Hence "Man of Steel"?

It wasn't BSC, but it was a steel manufacturing company. The first winner was David Ward in 1977. If anyone's got any old programmes from that period we should be able to find out the original sponsor. Question. How many times have Wire players won it, who, and what year?
