He looked good yesterday but I'm not sure he'll be able to win the GSOD again.

Agree 100% look how well Chisnall. Webster, Whitlock etc have done since switching not to mention Anderson people dismiss the BDO too easily and very few players have not gone through it to a decent level and succeeded in the PDC though with them having set up the Under 21 contests that should change in future years.

He's a decent player but could be really good if he moved to the PDC, I don't think he'll play well enough to defend his title and I'm sceptical about players retaining title's the year after in general (Taylor aside).

Think I read somewhere after his GSOD win that his wife was ill and so he chose to stay in the BDO rather than move to the PDC

I saw a bit of Steve Gibson and Blakely at his best.
Now I'm watching Alker lead us on against the rest,

I always believed that was the reason also and if thats the case to maintain the level of play he has done is a credit to him. I am sure he will move over sometime and perhaps waiting for the decline of the likes of Taylor and Barney before moving is not such a bad thing.
Sad to hear Sid has been diagnosed with cancer, starting treatment so it could be a while before we hear him on the commentary team again. All the best for a speedy recovery
