It never collapsed. The official attendance was around 102,000. As you say official records might have been questionable then, but not as questionable as unofficial stories and guessing!
nothing collapsed as far as i know, but the official world attendance as i can recall for an rl game is around 110,000 at the telstra stadium as it was. (iv'e just tried to check it out but with no luck) but 102,000 etc was the official attendance at odsal but unofficial figures put it down as at least 120,000 cos loads of barriers went down and loads of fans gained entrance. if you read some of the annals of rl history from the press at that time then it was the biggest games of the era, not just for rl but in the country. it was one of those times in sport where the whole country was focused on rl and wondered what was happening up north. in sl era there is no doubt that you've been an outstanding side, a side which has done great things for rl with the quality entertaining rugby you've played. we've had some crap years but aren't the small town club; a minority of your posters think. were just grateful that things have turned and minus a few fools were a good set of fans like yourselves.

I'm sure all the Wire faithful would have spent their dole money on tickets at that price! For the record, I did attend, but some people just can't afford that! You only filled your Semi's because it was your first sniff at Silverware in 36 years...
