Didn't go to your 'home' game against us this season then. Rocked the place all the way through.

I was there. I wouldn't say you 'rocked' it but just invoked death by dull repetition. If that is what the 'ultras' is all about then I'm happy for you to keep it. At least when Wire beat us - and with more fans than you brought (again) - they did so tunefully even if their repetoire was limited.

From redvee; where we've received a fair bit of feedback...
"Can I just stress again, the ultra tag is going and this idea is not to mimic wigan's false atmosphere.
So far, feedback that I've received personally is..
*The Hanging flags are the best and it'd be great if we could fill all three sides next season.
*A pub meet up every few months would be a good idea, would give people a chance to give their thoughts on what things could be done to create a better atmosphere. It would also give people a chance to get to know other 'singers' a bit more, creating a better atmosphere at away games.
*There's a 50/50 split about big waving flags and two-stick flags, but as long as there at the back and not obstructing views, they wouldn't be a problem and would add colour to the stand.
*Repeating songs would be great as it gives a chance for the North/South stands to join in. (This is my favourite )"
Thoughts? Does anybody have anymore suggestions/ideas?

You forgot to include posts from those who didn't like the idea of ultras at St Helens?
Just a thought!
We have some great flags now. Adding to those would be cool. Those big things that Wigan wave? No thanks.
We don't need to copy Wigan. We just need to get our two groups of singers standing together in the West Stand and the rest of the West Stand needs to learn the words to the very good songs we have already, maybe adding to the repertoire as time passes.

Maybe because, if you read the thread on redvee or indeed the first few pages of the thread on here you will see that there aren't going to be any 'ultras' at St Helens? Just a thought?
Boy do I regret that threat title now It's all people read before posting!

You were earlier with your dirge there, yes. But after 5 minutes it was clear we hadn't turned up, so that explains that. And rocked it is a bit optimistic. Volume wise you might have rocked a baby to sleep, quality wise you'd have woken it up....though the repetitive nature of your only song might have done the trick.

My own thoughts are nothing to do with the word 'ultras'. It's to do with the style. If that style is what you want to bring in - that repetitive chanting that just goes on and on and on - then I'm a fan who does not want it.
Some chanting is good. But we're Saints and we primarily either go quiet when things are getting anxious or we sing. But mixing and matching in a way natural to our game day culture is much better than trying to push on to the majority what is a minority sport within RL. Possibly because only Wigan want to do it and that's probably because they only had 'Wigoon, Wigoon' in their 'song' collection to start with so from their POV anything was an improvement.
And our own flags and style of flags - also good. That's who we are.
We are not Wigan.

*There will be NO drums *There will be NO flares *There will be repetitive chanting, (see final point on my post at the top of the page) If we keep chants going, hopefully the North/South stands can join in too

sweet lord cant you just be "Saints Fans"??? sing when you want clap when you want boo if you want....?
Wigan Are doing this "Thing "because of the years of Ridicule they've had as a "No songs, never singing, leave early bunch of blue rinsed old biddy, ellgren track suit wearing supporters"
they have to organise themselves to sing and stay late to say "look at us..!! Please Eddie And Stevo say we are the best fans in the League..... please..."
Its Comical when Wigan do it if Normal Rugby Fans do it will be quite sad....
remember it only starts as an"ULTRA'S ?" thread today, it wont be long before the "How to make a two stick flag" thread appears...
