It's a serious offence of which he was found guilty.
But the RFL need to be challenged to justify the severity of the ban and demonstrate some consistency. Given lighter sentences previously for similar offences.

Agreed it is a serious offence, and he shouldn't have done it however 18 months is a joke.......infact the RFL is a joke at present!!

People slagging them off won't change their mind.
Putting some sort of concerted appeal together by the club, challenging the legitimacy of the punishment, might.

Sorry SO but they will not change the verdict IMO. Leafy is inconsequential enough for them not to have to worry about appeals or petitions or whatever us the little folk may try to organise in his cause. He is not an household name, an International player and will probably never get a mention outside of this (Doncaster)forum. I hope to hell I'm wrong but its my gut feeling. The RL have always been very good at hitting hardest at the smallest in our game. So I for one will reserve my right to slag off the jumped up wannabes that purport to be the bastions of our game. Someone is close to the Sun newspaper if Wanderers earlier post is correct and if they can be influenced by that promoter of all things virtuous in our society then God help us. I don't tust them and I never will.

I believe I said the same thing about small fry and big fish on the very first topic about Sean Leaf and his misdemeanour.
However if the decision is not challenged, on the grounds that is disproprtionate when compared with Long et al, it certainly won't get commuted.
So it's better to try than not to.

Has there been any official confirmation of any ban yet?

Then why are people having a go at the RFL? Until they hand out a verdict we don't think is fair then what's the point of calling the RFL?

Where has the verdict information come from? I can't find anything anywhere on the web. There's nothing on the Dons' website, and nothing on the Rugby Football League website. Has someone got inside information? If so, where is it from?
