I don't think he bothers with any research and just turns up an hour before KO and reads the team sheet. That's how it seems anyway.Nor does he bother, obviously,to listen to his own previous commentaries in order to improve and eradicate mistakes.

Reading this thread, I'm glad that I was at an Aunt and Uncle's Golden Wedding celebration do in West Yorkshire this weekend (including an excellent curry on Saturday night in Bradford), so I didn't get to see the games!
Freedom for supporters of the government, only for members of one party - however numerous they may be - is no freedom at all. freedom is always and exclusively for one who thinks differently. Rosa Luxemburg, 'Die russiche Revolution'.

Rugby League, a BBC2 sport - both quarters and semis relegated to the least popular station
“You are playing a game of football this afternoon but more than that you are playing for England, and more even than that, you are playing for right versus wrong. You will win because you have to win. Don’t forget that message from home. England expects every one of you to do his duty.”

Are you not a Rugby League fan then? The Warrington Wigan game was one of the best I have seen in 25 years watching the sport
You mean just like World Swimming,World Athletics,Open Golf,Six Nations Rugby,Wimbledon etc.etc.People on here, really have enormous chips on their shoulders. The BBC coverage of the games was first class.

Oh god.
Why does it really matter what side it's on?

Yes, I thought the coverage was great
I have no chip on my shoulder, simply recognising the fact that a game on BBC1 will attract more casual viewers than one on BBC2
The Warrington Wigan game was a great advert for our game - why is it wrong of me to want as many people in the country see it as possible?
in Britain it does...lots of channel snobs in this country...its pathetic

everyone that has BBC1....has BBC2 too......its the next channel up
as for the coverage, thought chappers was excellent and surprisingly knowledgeable..where as with clare "baldwin",while enthusiastic, you often get the sense she's learning something and theres alot of explaination about the game and has a result it can be quite patronizing imo
