With the inevitable happening and us starting to lose all our best players to SL I wonder what people think the future of Leigh really is ? Next year I reckon we will be at least 5 quality players down from this season (I don't think Hills departure is the last) and I also think we will need to find a outstanding coach to replace Basil.
So where is the future, I'm a Leigh fan first and foremost and whilst I like to see all players bettering themselves its just a shame that I will never get the chance to see the best players we have playing in the games highest and best league in a Leigh shirt.
Whilst never a fan of franchising (or certainly not the biased RL style of franchising) this will always happen so '3 years to build the club up' means nothing if after any success it needs rebuilding as all the best have left.
Ialso think its different from when we have lost players in the past because largely this has been money related, I would say these signings are the players furthering there ambitions elsewhere caused by tallent being unrewarded in the league they play in.
Be interesting to see if mines a isolated opinion thus asking what do people think ?

I am more optimistic although I agree losing your best players to Non Relegation Clubs was always going to be a bi product of this ridiculous experiment which is NOT working. Mind you it was always an experiment that never could have worked imo.
We have some great prospects who will soon step up to the plate and with the money the club makes from our two (hopefully) Finals this season who knows.
Attendances of 99% of Championship Clubs have declined in the last 3 seasons and similarly they have for most Non Relegation Clubs. That is a fact.

Whats with all the Basil leaving stuff again? Where is he going to go in SL? Where in SL do they have the Leyther factor? This club is going to go from strength to strength and Basil will be the one making it happen. I hope. Come On You Leeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeigh.

But has it ever been any different ? , we have always been a ' selling ' club , the only difference now is you don't get a fee
As for the attendance idea , well I'd disagree , it all depends how you go about making Leigh fans , yes that's right , ' Making ' Leigh fans
And losing players doesn't necessarily affect that to any great degree

SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done But he with a chuckle replied That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried. So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin On his face. If he worried he hid it. He started to sing as he tackled the thing That couldn’t be done, and he did it!

Players will always come and go.Personally, I see it as a positive slant on the club that we are capable of continually developing players capable of performing at the next level.
The only way to stop this happening is to get to the next level ourselves - even then players would then still move on.
