He's stated that he doesn't want to have to play against the Panthers in his career, so that means his options are limited to English clubs. Sure, he'd rather stay with the Panthers but it doesn't look like that will work out so presumably we're second choice.

Yeah accepted, but surely his agent would of had a word to say give it the "think SL is great" blah blah blah.
Looking at footage on you tube yeah looks a great player and "if" he is going to be wearing the P&B I hope he give it his all and not just a meal ticket, awaiting Panthers to come calling, as it appears he will take up a big chunck of the cap
But don't get cut up about his mercenary attitude people, if anything it's good that he's honest. IMO there is nothing worse than when a player signs for a club 10,000 miles away and then professes their eternal support for the club and how they used to get up at 4am to watch [Insert name of first club legend found on Google here] and can't wait to play in front of the passionate supporters at [Insert name of ground here]. The vast majority of NRL players come for one or more of the following reasons:
1 - Financial. They can earn more or over a longer period than they can in the NRL 2 - Disciplinary. An awful lot of imports have made their NRL position untennable due to their behaviour 3 - Escapism. A lot of players get into the NRL system young and have never seen the world. I remember reading about how Jason Hooper had got really excited when Saints went over a stream on the way to Wembley, thinking it was the Thames and trying to take a picture of it. A paid vacation around Europe with a safe ex-pat community on tap is an attractive way to finish a career.
Pretty much all the players in SL are mercenaries. The likes of Brett Hodgson and Matt King included. There are only a few rare examples of people who come over for rugby reasons, and they are usually young players who have failed to capitalise on an NRL place.

If this is the case do we really want a player who is clearly coming for the money and not the fact he wants to play for the wire????
I cant think of many players in the Warrington squad who would have grown up wanting to play for Wire.
Hodgson, King, Monaghans, Morley etc.... have pretty much all signed with us for the money or longer contracts.
Im more interested in him trying hard and earning his pay.
For the way Ratchford played on Sunday, I wouldn't have him a million miles near the club....bone idle
As for Chase...great player, but we allready have an elusive pacy half-back for the next x years, we need a Briers 'wily old fox' replacement
I'll debate on this point.
I see Chase as the same type of player than Briers, rather than in the same ilk as Myler (Whom I assume you were comparing with)
If you watch Cas, alot of the moves and kicks are done off Chase, he arranges players and calls moves. I think his style will help compliment Mylers 'off the cuff' and supporting role that he does so well.
Add to that the fact the boy can tackle, I think he'd be reasonably suitable.
Is he my first choice? No Would I be distraught if we signed him? Probably not
