was thinking about this today, what if some multimillionaire bought them, overhauled the squad, built a new ground etc. Would it be good to have the Leeds derby back as a regular SL fixture, what would it do to our support and RL in leeds. Thoughts?
Call me pedantic, but wouldn't this multimillionaire be better just building another 3 stands to their existing ground? When was the last time you went to SLS? It's pretty impressive these days mate, albeit only one stand, but still.

While I'm aware in a sort of academic way of the history of Hunslet, and hence generally keen to see them survive and live on, unfortunately in my recollection from the 20-something years I've watched RL, they've been that nomadic side from South Leeds who play in empty football grounds or empty athletics tracks.
If I'm being really honest they mean very little to me either way. I don't want to see any RL club fold, but that's about as far as I get. Outside the Lazenby Cup visits to the South Leeds Stadium, I don't think I've ever actually met a Hunslet fan. I never ventured to South Leeds all that much.

No but I'd welcome them if they ever became one.
When they were replaced in the traditional Leeds city pre-season encounter by Bramley the writing was well and truely on the wall and that was 38 years ago.
A few of us can still remember those times like it was yesterday (even though we may struggle to know what day it is presently ..... Wednesday, right - bin day)

But which bin? We have to sort our rubbish into thirty different bins which are collected over 60 different days.
I just chuck all my rubbish over the neighbours fence.

I vaguely remember going to Parkside with my old man, what a lovely, atmospheric stadium that was. The greyhound stadium was a good venue too. Thursday is bin day, alternate ones for the brown bin, dont have a green bin, someone nicked it and I never bothered asking for a replacement

Leeds used to be home to five big rugby league teams in Leeds RL, Hunslet, Holbeck, Bramley & Leeds Parish church. I’d personally like to see at least three teams from Leeds in the super league if they fitted the criteria. The only problem is that Leeds Rhinos have got such a big monopoly on the rugby league circuits and we’ll never see another club be able to compete unless big investment was involved. It’d have to be done on the scale of South Sydney rabbitohs who were fallen giants before big investment came the clubs way.

I too used to like going to Parkside and if you tghink you have seen keen rivaly bodering on hatred you have not seen anything like Hunslet/Leeds and it even brushed off on the players."The old Lazenby cup games used toattract crowds of 20k and were played with such ferocity that players got injured before the season began, thats whywe had to stop the fixture for a long spell"to quote Harry Jepson. Those day's have gone and will never return,a whole hunslet generation have migrated all over the City and the next ones have either been lost to the game or bacame Leeds fans or leedsutd.I love the memory of the old Hunslet club, but its gone, sadly Leeds rhinos has now got the City to itself as a super league club
Soon we will be dancing the Fandango
