Can't say fairer than that, i don't blame Mason at all for what happened, to be fair Hudge and the board messed up on this one in my opinion.

Is it that lass that used to go out with Ken West?

If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.

From the outside that's how I saw it. Mason deal should never have been finalised (with a supposed huge sign on fee) until quota issues were sorted as this scenario was always a possibility.

The only thing I'd be slightly critical of him for is fudging the timeline surrounding his trip to Toulon and his de-registration. Any implication that he was in contact with Toulon because he was de-registered for the derby is bs.
That trip to Toulon might have been to discuss a move for their 2012-13 season, but if so why the denials/subterfuge? And why not say it now. If it was for the massive pay increase - you know what? Fair enough, but don't pretend otherwise.

That said - it was a self-inflicted wound by the club. If you sign six quota players with 'paperwork to follow', you're taking a risk. Seemingly not a big one as we needed only Mason or Galea to get sorted and we know for certain Mason is eligible and only exceptional circumstances prevented him getting it. But when it was such a high profile signing, that (seemingly small) risk should have been shifted on to the players.

'Thus I am tormented by my curiosity and humbled by my ignorance.' from History of an Old Bramin, The New York Mirror (A Weekly Journal Devoted to Literature and the Fine Arts), February 16th 1833.

I agree with most on here, it was a risk and it went pear shaped. To be fair to Mason the situation wasn't of his doing and him talking to Toulon did us a favour. Worst case scenario being hime spending the year on the sidelines on a wedge of cash.
I never liked his attitude to the game if I'm honest, even when playing he was out every weekend on the lash, thats what you get with Mason and we knew it before he came but I don't think it was right for our club culture and morale.
All in all I think the position both us and Mason are now in suits all parties, hopefully we have a chunk of cap free next year and we can recruit in a position we actually need to, not just a name for names sake.

Think Willie Mason's comments are very fair really, he could have been far more critical.

Shame he didn't get one more game in the derby. Don't know how effective he would have been but it would certainly have added some spice.

Admittedly most of Mason's comments are probably valid, but anyone else feel that it's just yet more dirt-digging and Edit-Swearfilter is there for a reason-RW-stirring by that Rag? To an outsider it would seem that they actually want to add to their previous bans by us.

If you notice most "normal " Rovers stories are written by Charlie Muggins , however any Edit-That applies to you as well-RW-stirring , or any chance to have a dig at Rovers is done by Paul Baxter sports editor and Gateshull fan :NAUGHTY:

You've gone back to the horrible little picture.

Second little picture wasn't a lot better but it definitely caught a better side of you.

Got over Ken dumping you yet? Wassock like that isn't he.
