I think rovers are to blame for bringing him over in the first place on the wrong passport I could see they're reasons for doing it tho, and a lot of people prob would change jobs for 3 times the amount ov money I just don't think Mason was totally innocent in all of this, he was gonna jump ship even with his passport an opportunity came along he has took it.

A clause in an employment contract that specifically forbids an employee from speaking with or even seeking employment with another employer would be a clear breach of EU & English law. It would be deemed a restraint of trade, simple as.
Even the Neil Hudgell should realise that and cease his pathetic posturing, in a vain attempt to deflect any criticism of his poor judgement
Sports and players registrations are different. He cannot look for a new job without the authority of the club who he is contracted to. He is allowed to move but has to have permission. I Know Willie Mason from his time here and he knows he is in the wrong and he also regrets his actions but he and the club are happy as Rovers will recieve a lump of money from France that will make it quite a profitable deal after all.
Willie is a nice guy but he sometimes does not think before he acts. Wish him well with his move.

It did say in the hdm that rovers were seeking to get monies paid already to mason back, I truly do think that he already planned he was of to Toulon passport situation or not.

What an odd situation. Rovers stop paying Mason weeks ago, thereby, you would imagine, invalidating his contract. Rovers then release Mason so as of yesterday he is a free agent. Mason then signs for Toulon (presumably) and Rovers still get a huge wedge of cash. Great stuff.
