I think he's a good squad player and he definitely should get game time but that we have better players not getting the same amount of game time in Wheeldon, Taylor and until recently Cook who are not being used enough.
I like Netherton, he certainly gives his all, I'm just not sure we've utilised the squad to it's maximum potential this year. I'm also aware that the players I've listed are very different and offer different qualities to Netherton, it just comes down to tactics and game plan for me.
I definitely do not consider Netherton to be anywhere near the main reason for this seasons disappointments so far.
This. Nev is good for a game when we are up against it as then his qualities are useful, But against a very poor Bradford side, Really JM are you sure we need to be ultra defensive against them?

I think most people realise that Nev is a good squad member like all teams have/need, what seems to bug them though, is the way he seems to be included in the team at other players expense. Justin obviously rates him highly to do so, because of this I could see another years contract on the way.

i can see another contract heading his way.
I would imagine he's relatively cheap on the salary cap Fits the homegrown, fed trained or whatever it is this week
I can see how he's a solid defender who rarely gives away penalties, going forward offers very little though, very poor with ball in hand. I can see why he plays through the middle too as in the second row his footwork would be found out at this level.
However, i do feel he should be a squad player and not be in the first choice 17 in any game (ie if every player is fit) I think there are far better players who are as solid defensively but offer more going forwards. I have no problem with him playing if we have injuries (which always happen in a collision sport), suspensions or over the busy periods with short turnarounds but i honestly can't see why he plays most games.
He's certainly not the reason were in the position were in but sometimes wonder why others are left out whilst he plays.

Sorry but dont have Rovers tattooed on my bicept. Netherton is a good journeyman nothing more.
How did he have a good game by the way? As he was named a loose forward I would expect at least some tackle busts and a few offloads ..oh and a few dynamic breaks from dummy half. No?

I pay my season ticket money I have my say. Netherton is a solid player, never let you down etc. Never be the difference in winning you a game either.

That final sentence is impossible to quantify. When you look at any great team they've always had their workmanlike players in amongst them. Half the time nobody notices their good work.

Damn right, you carried that flag up the slope as well as anyone!
