Sale own the ground and can then use it for concerts etc.... they have a nice clean shiney new stadium to encourage union loving corporate hospitality.
I think the one thing which could go in our favour is that Sale coming onboard may make the 2nd and 3rd phase be built sooner rather than later.
I'd be ok with Sale being there as long as we are safe and the primary tenant. And the stadium was kept by the council as a community stadium.
I cant imagine either Salford or Sale coming up with the millions to buy it. If this was possible why aren't both clubs building new stadiums themselves? I'm sure both clubs financial priorities are about the strength of the teams on the field rather than making huge investments they can't afford. Bare in mind also that the 26m figure is just for the stadium and not the retail and future associated profits. Like I said in an earlier post the stadium cost to the JV is probably viable because they own the land and some of the profit from the future retail would go towards paying off the stadium loan. At the end of the day the council have backed this because its for the community of Salford (and as long as they aren't losing money) I can't imagine they would want to relinquish control. For instance in addition to the sports pitches/facilities I understand that one floor of the main stand will be used as community offices.
First accept sadness. Realise that without losing 70% of the time, winning wouldn't be such a relief.
Don't want Sale in there for all the reasons that have been discussed. Michigan Red I don't get your hatred of football and worship of Rugby Union. Football never banned anyone for life who had played Rugby League. What was all that nonsense your were posting on here abit ago saying we shouldn't be selling 5 year season tickets if we didn't have it on record who would be playing at Barton with us?

I think it would be much better for you if you got one of City or Utds reserves playing there and let Swinton use it on alternate weekends to you in the summer.
If Blackburn Rovers can use the LSV effectively from such a distance could you not get Bolton or Wigan reserves in there?
I'm a RL fan through and through and I really don't want the same happening to you as what's happened to Stockport
Latics play at Robin park arena I think, no need for them to move.
Getting Sale in is a bad move IMO, that is helping the main competition which cannot be good. Let them die elsewhere.
Would be great to get Man United reserves or FC united playing in the stadium.
Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good - sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league - Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate - the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever - Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go - Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know - FIOS

Brian Kennedy has said Stockport County can stay and have exclusive use of Edgeley Park and keep some of the C & B to help their revenue streams.

Why is everyone thinking/predicting that the stadium will be shared by someone else? I'd prefer it to be ours and ours alone. If it's council/Peel-owned then it will be up to them to try and maximise use of it but there's a fine balance in over-using it in my opinion. And whatever happens I don't want any union team using it. They can all go to the wall as far as I'm concerned and, fingers crossed, that will be sooner than later.

Because the more usage it gets , the more money it makes , the less rental you pay , the better team you can put out on the pitch

SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done But he with a chuckle replied That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried. So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin On his face. If he worried he hid it. He started to sing as he tackled the thing That couldn’t be done, and he did it!

Compared to what at the minute ?
And do you have a figure for this ' minimal/barely mentionable ' rent ? , not forgetting loss of concession sales ? , loss of some of you pitchside advertising revenues ? , massive increase in the cost of your corporate costs
I hope you are right and I am wrong

That's a good point to be honest. I have no clue what the new rent will be but I'm sure one of the selling points was that it was going to be a "peppercorn" rent, whatever that would be.
