You have no knowledge of the sector whatsoever... There are obviously things you know that i don't and vice versa, this is one of those moments!!
You speak to some MAJOR manufacturers of high end technology products and ask which is the best operating system or device to run the products on... Better still ask them which one they use!!
AMX do make apps for Android but both of these companies favour iPhone/iPad devices. They are much more advanced, much more versatile and FAR superior for programming. Don't tell me, these companies are 'chavvy' aswell... Probably because they are expensive and you don't own their products. BMW are 'chavvy'... As i said, Apple's main target audience is people where money isn't an object, so costs don't come into it.
The FACT is the iPhone/iPad is THE best technological device in the world for any major software/hardware developer.
The ONLY argument you have on your side is cost and this is because even HTC know that at the same price NOBODY would buy it over the iPhone (except you). Hence why they've only started selling phones in larger numbers since they dropped their prices massively and they are still WAY behind the biggest selling phone in the world, or maybe 47 million people were wrong in 2010?? 3 times more than Motorolla's TOTAL smartphone sales.
This all coupled with the fact that less than 10% of Sony's phones run on Android, Nokia don't use Android at all. Samsung are the biggest selling overall brand but their phones, like the majority of their products, are 'entry level' and made to a price point!!
You tell me something the HTC does BETTER than the iPhone!!
The HTC, particularly Desire, is an excellent phone but it cannot match the iPhone's furture proofed operating system and level of versatility!!

I'm pretty sure Steve Jobs sees this differently.

Compared to my friends iPhone 4 the operating system, games etc. are a lot smoother. As is the touchscreen. The camera is a hell of a lot better aswell.

Yes it is. Refer to the companies i referenced to and speak to any other company. It is the single highest recognised platform from brands such as Panasonic, Samsung, LG, Sony, Bose, Crestron, AMX, Boston Accoustics. Sorry, every brand in the technology world is wrong and you are right.

The touchscreen on the iPhone is widely recognised as the best, most responsive and strongest available so i'm afraid you're full of BS there. The camera will be better, since most people who want quality will usually have a proper camera to take photos and a proper camcorder for video.. These are just convenience feature and not classed as important facilities on something for the professional person. More for kids or, as you like to put it, 'chavs'.
east hull FC fan wrote:That's your opinion. It's wrong btw.
In your opinion... As i said, 47million+ other people and myself are wrong aren't we??
As i said, the HTC is a great phone and good all rounder, but not the best device. If they were both FREE on £20p/m 12mth contracts, i would estimate less than 10% of people wanting a smartphone wouldn't get the iPhone!

Bluetooth to other mobile phones.(a basic part of any modern phone) Allow you to replace your battery if it fails. Customisable screens.. Run 3rd party software. Iphone only supports H.264 (MPEG-4) video format (having to transfer to phone through itunes) HTC supports 3gp, .3g2, .mp4, .wmv (Windows Media Video 9), .avi (MP4 ASP and MP3), .xvid (MP4 ASP and MP3) transfer to phone like any other drive.
Not use itunes, the amount of people i know who have lost things off their iphone during a syncing session is unreal. Play flash video! If i remember correctly, the iphone4, (as you put it, "the iPhone/iPad is THE best technological device in the world for any major software/hardware developer and furture proofed operating system and level of versatility!! " ) couldn't even make phone calls unless you held it in a specific way! http://news.cnet.com/8301-30677_3-20008919-244.html You said "the iPhone's future proofed operating system and level of versatility!!" I don't agree the words Iphone and versatile should be used in the same sentence (unless the word "not" is between them) oh, and the HTC looks better...

He won't answer that, he never did to me.
They don't do anything that the HTC Desire HD doesn't. The app store thing is a myth, for actual practical apps they both have the same, the app store just has a lot more gimmicks. As for itunes, my ipod touch went in the bin a long time ago, the thing is an absolute joke.
But don't worry, we don't have £50k jobs so they're not meant for us, Steve Jobs said so.

I'm a fan of MacBooks. Never managed to crash one yet (whereas I seem to be a walking virus where PCs are concerned) and find them very intuitive. I don't have an iPhone but it's big appeal for me would be it's compatibility with my MacBook. Does anyone have any experience of using the HTC in conjunction with a Mac?
Surely it's just horses for courses, I've got a galaxy s phone and ipod touch I used to use for surfing before I got the phone.
The only real difference for me is that the itunes store seems better for finding and downloading apps, pod casts and music. I can dock and charge the ipod easier with my home cinema system, alarm clock etc. The Samsung on the other hand is better for upgrading, I put an sd card in it which took it to 24GB for just over £10. As said if the battery goes you can just put a new one in. Once used to it I actually prefer the internet interface as well.
The big diferenciator for me was outright cost. £25/month and no outlay for the samsung vs £35 a month and £180 outlay for the iphone. Had they been the same price I'd have probably gone for the iphone but that was purly on brand alone.

Exactly, a basic part. Bluetooth is dead in the water, many brands are moving away from it as a file transfer system because it is unreliable, the signal fluctuates and it's slow. Though the iPhone does have it, it has it for the features it was designed (headsets, car systems, audio systems) but these will all be replaced by a WiFi or similar setup.
GraftonRed wrote:Allow you to replace your battery if it fails.
This, i'll give you. But then on the other hand, i've had various phones for the last 15 years and have NEVER had to replace a battery once. So no big issue....

GraftonRed wrote:Run 3rd party software.
Like what?? What do you want to run that it doesn't have already!! Apple put security very high on their importance list. Their products don't get viruses and are hacked with great difficulty. Very reliable and very safe.

H.264, .m4v, .mp4 and .mov and .avi file formats. all you need in the modern age. iTunes syncing is great, it gets everything in one place. All my music, videos, photos, apps, contacts, calender events, notes, messages and emails are all organised without touching a button. This makes things alot easier to get things updated without sitting in front of the computer for ages. It also backs up automatically, so when i go to rugby tonight and smash my phone or lose it i simply get another one plug it in and in 10 mins i have absolutely EVERYTHING as it was... The only phone that works this way. If people are losing things when syncing they have done something wrong in their settings.

See '3rd party software'. Flash is very insecure. Symantec did a report which highlighted Flash as having one of the worst sercurity records and it is the number one reason why Macs crash. Flash is also old technology and is being replaced by more modern formats such as H.264 which is an industry standard video format. Flash is just for PC and computer devices. H.264 also doesn't need to run a seperate decoder so uses alot less battery life. Flash is a thing of the past.

Yes, a fault that affected a small number of handsets in the grand scheme of things, and was corrected very quickly. Still didn't stop it being the single biggest selling handset of 2010

Clearly the HTC does do more, but my point is that the iPhone does exactly what it's designed to do and, in those features, does it better.
It's smaller. Has a far better screen and higher resolution Has a more advanced touchscreen iOS is a more stable, reliable and advanced operation system Active Noise cancellation and dedicated microphone Higher Internal storage Front facing camera for video calling +more
The iPhone just works perfectly
