Fair enough. But, why then not just whack some seats in the east stand extension, and build a cover over the Golf stand to see if it works? Would have thought that the first step would be simpler than the leap that is being attempted.

It's part of a bigger development to provide facilities for the local community. Also, CP pretty much has 'basic' and 'traditional' covered - this'll provide boxes and a possibly a new restaurant (iirc).

Salford, Saints and Cas are building new stadia. Bradford want to. Widnes are coming up - likely to replace Wakefield. With just those limited 'make-do and mend' improvements, CP would soon compare unfavourably with all other SL grounds. Which could still be the wisest commercial decision (I'd guess not, but I don't really know) - but things have to be seen through the prism of the licensing criteria.

This would end up with us playing in a ground resembling Darfur United's.
