Question? I thought the Scarborough Centurions was a 'Rugby League' team. Not an American football type. can some one confirm this as i might just be seeing a set of american football posts there :S
Think it's just a case of being a multi-sports pitch, and I'm sure someone much older than me will confirm that Hunslet used to have American Football-style posts on a permanent basis?

Your right Scarborough Centurions are a Rugby League team but the field we played on is used for Soccer (as they call it here), American Football and Rugby. It has something to do with a law that does not allow sports activities to be played on grass until mid May, due to the long and cold winters. So any of the many rugby fields we have were out of the question. I'm told that any future games played this year will be played on good old fashioned grass.

I thought Canadian Football had a few differences from the NFL, namely players etc.....If I recall correctly , from the Warren Moon days in Canada or did I just have too much stella............
How is education supposed to make me feel smarter? Besides, every time I learn something new, it pushes some old stuff out of my brain. Remember when I took that home winemaking course, and I forgot how to drive?

I stand corrected the NFL and CFL I believe have some differences, one being only 3 downs in the CFL. I'm not sure of the others as the CFL season only starts late June.

Thanks for the pictures SC! I did feel a bit like a reject from a tube of fruit pastilles in that outfit! But it was good fun and I gained a new respect for match officials (that I suspect I will quickly lose when I go to my next game!). Certainly the players seem a bit more respectful of officialdom in sports over here, as are the fans...quite rare to hear bad language as offenders are ejected from the stadium very quickly...). I will be able to tell my grandkids that I officiated in the first ever Canadian Grand Final, when hopefully at that point it will be watched by thousands of people.
NFL and CFL have one major thing in common...they are both a load of rubbish.
Yes Hunslet did at on time have those AMERICAN style post when they played at the Greyhound Stadium the dead ball line was situated on where the post went into the ground in one match Leighs Geoff Piggy Fletcher broke thro and put the ball on what he thought was the try line only to have the try ruled out because he had put the ball dead he he.. Piggy was,nt amused...................

It's in the rules of RL that you can use 'Y' or 'H' style posts. I'm not being a smart ar$e, I got it on a quiz question.
