Again, as I hit submit, I thought, "wrong thread."
I think I'll go and get a haircut and then sit outside with a bottle wine and a book.
If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.

Mason suffered a freak quad injury while shaving.
On a serious note, this is a bit of a farce, and presumably means that Mason is either a) on his way or b) won't be playing again this season given re-registration needs the full support of the RFL board.

What's your authority for that R.B.A.? Its clear from Rovers' official statement that they discussed the possibility of a dispensation with the RFL. However it seems it was never pursued. Did the RFL indicate one would be unlikely to be forthcoming or did Rovers decide not to pursue it (and if so why)?

The way the statement reads to me is that they decided not to pursue due to his rumoured contact with Toulon. Can't say I blame them - if they'd gone to the effort to get some kind of additional dispensation only for him to leave for France shortly afterwards it would have made the current embarrassment look like small beer.

I`ve been told by someone who has pretty good connections at Craven Park that Mason is off to France next week and will not play for us again. At the end of the day, Mason has been offered a job with higher wages. He is not a Rovers supporter and how many of us would turn down a lot better paid job in the south of France a few miles away from Monaco?

Absolutely. Mason has hardly covered himself with glory here - in fact it now looks as if he's messed Rovers about something rotten. As amusing as it is on the face of it that kind of behaviour by players isn't on in my book. I know it's a job and all that but when you enter into a contract you should be committed to fulfilling it IMO and not take the first chance that comes along to weasel out and go elsewhere.
