Fair play to Willie for turning up at the kids Easter camp today. The kids were told that under no circumstances were they to ask about his move to France though! Anyway, ive got another Willie Mason flag i have no use though.

We brought Mason over, fully expecting him gaining a Tongan passport. As that has not happened we are without Mason but have Dobson. That puts us firmly back at square 1, were we beat Hull then should have beaten Warrington. Rovers + Dobson are a far better team than Rovers + Mason. No player is bigger than the club but Dobson is closest. If Willie does leave, we will get a fat cheque, I don't see the downside!
I'm not sure about the fat cheque and following the hype, there is going to be a degree of deflation and mild embarrassment. Sometimes things don't work out. Many more have than haven't in recent years. And finally putting it to bed will be a relief.

You need rid of him of your wage bill and the Toulon move would do that, I doubt a fee would be involved as it would help both parties. One thing you don't want is Big Willie sat in the stand unable to play and you will be still paying him his contract.
Time to cut the losses , except a bit of stick and carry on.
Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.;

Aye - he came across as a decent enough bloke. If this is it, I hope it can all be done amicably. Hopefully his cameo can be looked back at an historical curio in years to come.
If there was a way that he could stay (and play), I'd prefer it - but it seems unlikely. Mind you - wait half an hour and it'll change!

correct me if i am wrong but didn't the rfl state that if you de-registered anymore players then that player cannot be re-registered in the same season. If that is the case then mason cannot play for you again this season. If toulon do sign him for next season then i would imagine his contract would only start at the beginning of ther preseason, which could mean that you will be paying his salary to sit in the stands for quite a while

There will be a minimum of 1 more announcement prior to the match tomorrow. I am sure of it. There could be more but it depends how active pmh is.

Yes but the rfl statement said "Any application to re-register Willie Mason, subject to the player obtaining a Tongan passport, would require the full support of the RFL Board of Directors."
So if rovers DID want to re-register mason the rfl would look into it due to mason's tongan passport situation being out of rovers control.
