Was the signing of Ashley Williams just a token gesture to appease those fans who would like the club to give more Doncaster players a chance.

Lets hope the first team experience at Gateshead will give him chance to prove his ability.

Say what you mean and mean what you say because those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter.

It's the problem of us not having a reserves for him to play in, I feel he could become a good player, he certainly has the build for a good winger and shows promise with ball in hand.

However at this moment in time I have him as our 4th choice winger at best so to put him in now would weaken the team. The reactions on here form the last two weeks have shown that losing is not taken very well so to improve the likelihood of that happening is asking for trouble. Remember when a player is put in the team another has to be dropped, then the question would be similar to the one about Jack Ely ie "Why has Dean Colton been dropped?" etc

Surely he should have got more game time in friendlies like against the select side! I think it was just a pr gesture to say look we are giving local lads a go!

Far from it ,Ash has only been playing the game for a couple of years and although he is fast and strong with ball in hand he lacks positional awareness and match fitness, which he is not going to get sat in the stands watching on a Sunday hence the move to Gateshead. There he will get the game time he needs,as Jemmo points out there are three good wingers ahead of him and this gives him the chance to prove he is worth a regular place in the squad. Ash is a good trainer with a positive attitude and his time there will not only benifit him it will also benift the club when he returns to us ,as he will be match fit and ready to play

I also thin Ash looks a good prospect and appears to have a really good attitude. I think as long as the intention is to bring him back an improved player and not to discard him quietly then i think this is a good move. Is it really any different from Green to come to us on a dual registration from Hull? Is this not aimed at giving him game time with a view to getting into the Hull squad?

Well it seems he was discarded quietly away on loan, shame it didnt get put on the club site before the forum. This would then stop people making it a guessing game on what has happened to him or any other player. Just a thought on keeping fans up to date.

Rugbyman has retired. Welcome to Another Penalty

I saw it in League Express, looked like the news was released by Gateshead. Is Howlett still our player?

Isn't Scott on a season-long loan (that was my understanding).
