I certainly don't think his form necessitates him being dropped, although I don't think he's quite shining to the point where he's undroppable if the system is being changed. If that makes sense. Kind of a "would be unlucky to be dropped, but wouldn't be a massive thing if he was" situation.
I think that's fair comment. Sykes seems to have taken over from Mike Worrincy as the fall guy, for some fans. I thought it was unfair last year when circumstances dictated he played in the halves, a situation which didn't really suit his game to be fair, but he put his hand up and did the job and mostly got slagged off by many.
He's been a good pro for my money. He plays where he's asked and does his best in a team that is hardly full of superstars. No, he's not an Ellery Hanley, and never will be I guess, but he deserves a bit more respect than he gets.
