out of that list i was disapointed to see carvell, briscoe and brough leave..the rest i wasnt bothered about as i dont think they were making much of an impact at hull...good look to them but it does make you sick seeing brough doing so well when weve been struggling for a decent halfback for years!

I recal Brough was as bad an egg as can be during his time at FC but if this is purely on playing talent then he has matured big time hasnt he! Carvel has stopped pretending to have injuries thus he seems to be playing better now...
The one i always thought had the talent was Tommy lee, all the talent in the world but chose to be a bar stool instead, however playing better week in week out..
I miss Paul K & Motu too.

i always rated thakery at widnes he played 2 games in first team played well never got another chance when others got over a hundred games ie lee and washbook and i thought thackery showed more in 2 games to be worth giving more games to see what he could do.

Looked like an exciting off the cuff type of player in the two games that i saw him..was very surprised that he was let go so quickly!

Though seemingly not if they come to us. Perhaps that's because we generally bring in players with nothing to prove.............. and/or they're too old? I can't think of any that we've brought in and improved recently?

I think it was Peter Sharp who let Brough and Briscoe go. Terrible decisions in my opinion. He was the only person who thought that Tony was a better full back than Briscoe when Briscoe was clearly a better full back and Motu Tony was a very talented player who could play almost anywhere. If we had kept both these players - and if Motu had stayed fit - we would not have had the problems covering the full back and half back positions that we have had since and we would have had the flexibility of players rotating between hooker and half back that is very much in the mould of the current Huddersfield and Warrington squads. As for Lee, not sure who the coach was when he left, but I always got the impression that he was playing to orders and not allowed to play to his instincts.
