My thoughts are that Mason does not strike me as Morganesque signing, more of a headline, proof-that-we're-in-the-big-time big name, which smacks to me of a Cooke-style acquisition. The fact that it's then triggered a load of controversy and the distraction of the visa saga, then the Dobson de-registration won't have helped IMO. FWIW I think Mason will be a great player for Rovers. But he's certainly not a textbook Morgan signing in the style of Green, for example.
You seem to speak a lot more sense since your ban, were you on a rehabilitation programme?
Mason IMO was meant to be the icing on the cake. The extra bit that turns something substantial into something really tasty.
It didn't happen, the icing arrived and the cake had disappeared.
Of course he was also meant to put bums on seats and if we'd been tearing up Super League he might have done.
We're bottom of the league right now apart from the teams with points deducted. I don't think that was part of the plan. We have to be honest we are a third of the way into the season and we must accept what the league table is telling us. Even the ghost of Dally Messenger would struggle to put bums on seats right now.
Perhaps Mason will hit his straps in the derby game. He still has fantastic ability but he complements what is around him not the other way round.
Right now Hull are favourites for the derby game, they are giving better performances, albeit not results, than Rovers. But 3 weeks is a long time in Rugby League so who knows.
