His visa would probably be a UK visa in an Aussie /NZ passport. That would allow him to work. I'm not sure that he will need to change it when the Tongan passport arrives, unless RFL rules re quota require it. As far as UKBA are concerned, he has a proper visa. If he is required to change it, it's a simple process though.

That's really the point i was making. He has a UK visa because he's coming to the UK not an Aussie visa because he's an Aussie. (and therefore wouldn't need a Tongan visa to prove that he's Tongan etc)

I would guess that common sense should prevail and the RFL should simply allow him to stay on his existing visa as technically it's still valid because he still has the related Aussie passport but that they also ask to see his Tongan passport to give him the exemption. That would work wouldn't it.

That's the way I'd see it. He isn't giving up his Aussie/NZ passport to get his Tongan one so why would UKBA be interested? Can't see the RFL asking him to effectively leave the country and re-enter under a different nationality with a different visa just to comply with Quota regs.

As i said above common sense should prevail for the RFL. My nervousness around this would be that the words common sense and the RFL don't really go together.

I'm pretty sure that Willies passport will arrive, but either way it i doubt it will be announced before the week of the derby game, in order to give the fans a timely boost with the return of Dobson, especially if they lose the next 3 games.
