But I agree it has gone rather flat over the last season or so, I think it is more to do with the fact that there is a bit of an expectation for us to win that was never there before. This has brought about a bit of complacency. I don;t hold onto the bit about 'new fans' diluting the singing. The singers still all stand together, its not as if its reserved seating. If we got on a run of winning, the singin would return.
Numerous singers have moved to the Well due to being pushed out of 'their spot' by the bandwagoners, the others have moved from the middle. Last season one of the main lads couldn't attend many games due to work and family commitments which also had an impact. I too have lost a lot of enthusiasm because I start a song and within three or four lines it has died off and it was only being sung by about 20 people in the first place.
Then some idiot starts an anti-FC song and the whole place erupts in to the loudest place on earth!
Probably why Justin hasn't come under much fire for underperforming too, because we have beaten Hull FC and these fans are happy enough to lose every other game except those ones! Everyone needs to get out of this mentality and realise there is a bigger picture and we need to get behind the lads. Hopefully the night match atmosphere will return this Saturday.
