sky and many many others dont get goverment handed subsidies(ie tv licence fee) and have to generate their own income streams, hence all the adverts.
so why should the bbc be any different now to any of the others, having to be competitive and working within budgets might just make them put their house in order rather than keep wasting it on progammes that nobody watches.
the bbc has been getting worse for years due to trying to stick the paws into too many honey pots, so we get quantity and not quality.
Channel 4 is partly Licence Fee funded. The BBC is different because it it a PSB and therefore has to cater for minority tastes in broadcasting the the commercial sector cannot or will not cover.
