Interesting that League Weekly links the Dons with moves for two former players Mark Castle and Gareth Handford (both currently at Fryston).

Does the 25-man squad rule still apply?

Isn't the 25 man squad rule a bit of a non-rule. In that you can only have a squad of 25 players, but you can bring players in and out of your squad each week. For example, Grant Edwards, as a long term injury, would not be included in our current 25 man squad. I may have got that wrong though.

Also not sure how Dual Contract players count...whose squad are they in? Or both?

This would be a very good move. An older head in Handford, and another big prop in Castle.

That's probably it. De-register to register

Dont quote me on it but it seems Gaz has been around for years but i think he is only around the 30 mark.

Rugbyman has retired. Welcome to Another Penalty

I think we are heading in the right direction, and I would see it as a retrograde step ... even though they were both very good in their time.

War does not determine who is right - only who is left.

Thank God I'm an atheist.

I agree that we are heading in the right direction, but I dnt agree with it being a retrograde step. Gaz was the best prop outside of super league when he was first with us and Castle was the standout forward in our promotion year under Hanley. Both players cud still do a job for us as we seem to be lacking big and experienced forwards the only one being Bovil

I think if they can both prove their fitness we'd be mad to not have a look.

Gaz has always been an eighty min prop, so if they could both give us fifty sixty mins we'd be quids in.

Gareth 'scrum half trapped in a props body' Handford

I think they could both do a job if they are fit. Even if they are used
as super subs, they would make a great impact coming on after 20 or
25 mins. But they've got to be fit.
