Seems somewhat unambitious to me. Olly put an extra 1,000 compared to the 2009 attendance against Salford.

So, so far Rovers have gained a reported 200 extra shirt sales, a cancelled dinner and a few extra columns in tomorrows chip paper.

And it's cost them one deregistration, one happy prop forward, 4 clarifying press releases from an ever more alarmed RFL, the good will of their peer clubs and the cost of the most lavish welcoming buffet ever laid on in their history. Ever.

Wonder how many fans were at the training session this morning?

I disagree.
Crusaders wont bring many fans so a 2k increase would be huge.
Its the Home game after that which would be the bigger test.
Getting those fans back in who are coming on Sunday to see Mason's debut.

Therefore a 2 game marketing plan would have been perfect.

Blimey you not agreeing with me are you?

As for Willie, if there was no FC on sunday and you had done an offer (£2, £5 or summat) there might have been 10 of us pop along just to see what all the hype was about, you cant deny hes a name, but just a tad short of Beckham

Your attendance against Crusaders last season was low (the first home game after the 0-54 Saints game, I believe). In 2009 you got 8,046 against them. In that context an extra 1,000 bums on seats on Sunday wouldn't be particularly impressive with the debut of your biggest ever signing.

I take you point regarding the following home game though.

I could go on but my point is not that he won;t be a good signing as I think he will be, I said this before he signed for anyone. He will cause interest mainly due to the Fielden punch and because of some of things he says in the media - that's where the interest has come from in recent seasons rather than for what he does on the pitch.

Roverswall wrote:No he isn't the best player in the world but I would argue all day long that he is the 'most high profile player in the world' simply because I haven't seen anyone getting as many press inches as Willie has got for what ever reason in the past few years.
That makes him the most HIGH PROFILE player in the world.
