I see the romance of the challenge cup is dead & buried even at the 3rd round stage. Not that I'm a supporter of the Siddal club, although I do have a son who plays for their under 16's team currently, but why has nobody considered their side of things.
It's Siddal's home tie, so make Widnes come & play at Chevinedge. The facilities there are as good as let's say what Oldham or Swinton or South Wales have offered over the past few seasons. I hear that Widnes were been a little bit awkward from the onset, insisting on playing at their home stadium and giving a one-off payment to Siddal. Also, I'm not sure how many junior fixtures they have scheduled in for the challenge cup day, but would they wish to cancel those fixtures to maximise their support, and the week after, the under 16's are playing in the Yorkshire cup final versus Hunslet boys, I'm sure they need to play next weekend to prepare for their big day out too.
Good old professional rugby league, another joke story.

Surely considering the amount of tremendous work done by the Siddal club on behalf of the community ( for it is the amatuer clubs that do the ' real ' community work , giving the young people of the town a focus generally unavailable these days ) , it is only reasonable that the council do all they can to reward the Siddal club with as good a day as they can

Part of that reward would be making it as easy as possible for as many people of the town to be able to watch them play against Widnes in Halifax

It is after all a Halifax council facility , for the benefit of the people of Halifax , the people charged with running it should remember who they actually work for

SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!

I think the correct decision was made. We all know about the few who turn up to games with the sole aim of getting hammered

Says you on a boring wind-up trip.

When you can make a valid point as to why it's 'the correct decision' then you can come back and play.

So far we're had "people turn up intent on drinking" as a H & S reason thus meaning all spectator sport will cease to exist as of tomorrow if that was a risk factor.

What and pay £10+ for the privilege?

Again it's not as if this sort of thing has never been done before so why are council acting like it's some idea off mars that is to risky? This sort of thing happens at least twice a year!

Annoying as seem's Fax & Siddal worked really hard to persuade the council to put the 'double header' together so a cracking day of Rugby League can be had rather than likely two big scores on amateur sides in front of spurse crowds and the council has screwed them right over by making some RIDICULUOS KO times... 11:30 AM!!! This isn't under 12's you know.

Clearly being narrow-minded and want two full rent payments and two full steward payments!

How hard would it be to shut the bars for an hour ? That way those , intent on getting hammered , would decide what meant most to them , watching or drinking

This is the problem with council jobsworths , they are really good at finding potential problems , but totally useless at solving them

This here bloke making this decision isn't just jobsworth, he's physically incapable of doing his job. Everything needs a risk assessment when applying for something to be done/built but intelligent people and Health & Safety advisors etc who are on top of their game will meet with various organisations and authorities and map out how to do these things properly so either nothing happens or you know exactly what to do should it happen.

This person, as you say, is either not good at solving them, can’t do his job or is lazy and doesn’t want to do a proper job then pick up a wage packet he's not earned with 1,000s of people you’re supposed to be representing and ‘helping’ dislike you. Classless. Clueless.
