Not a great start. The Rulester has some redeeming qualities, and I love him dearly, almost too much, but “nearly 4th” was not his finest hour. There was a point between us and we got mightily owned on our own muck, let down by Mr Tansey. Familiar pattern?. Ask MrPhilb about the 2 derbies FC won last season. I like MrPhilb, as he has the rarest of commodities on here, an ability to self-deprecate (that’s not a rude thing, Rovers fans), and show a modicum of good humour, but he lost both big time last season and let himself down badly with his screeching about unfair refereeing decisions costing Rovers the 4 points in the regular rounds. My ears are still bleeding.

The bookies had FC as favourites last time out. See 1) above. And some bookmakers struggle with the basics, and are not really rugby league specialists, but do it as a favour to football fans with a foot in both camps:

Hmm...I have no idea about Joe Westerman. I’m not even sure he’s a natural blonde. Word has it that if he can walk in a straight line he might be quite handy, but I was dismayed to see him trying some dummy runs on Sunday. Hopefully Agar will have knocked that out of him , got him to stand shallower and take the ball stood still come Cardiff.
If we’re talking forwards, I don’t think that one player can carry the rest as Westerman will have to. Rovers on the other hand have the King of Hull (I know he chose this name himself, which is a bit Cooke-esque in ego terms, but you have to earn the right to such knobicity (yes, pmh, my word) and I think this was achieved when he rang the HDM in tears about his nail polish), Ben Galea, who teases one and all by saving and showing his full range at the Magic weekend then forgetting who he is (he’s getting on a bit, bless him), and of course Mr M, the big W, the lovely rotund, Jimmy Hill-jawed, buy now-pay yesterday, punchy-drunky, 10 ft high cardboard-replica, highest profile player ever. What do Tongans wear? Kaftans. Enough said. FC’s back row has the ginger Westy, Tickle and Fitz who was past his best 7 years ago according to Zod. I actually feel the match may be called off after my call to the South Wales Health and Safety Executive.
You’ll have to do better than that:
I see your Tickle and rasie you a King:
HULL KR's Clint Newton admits he would class the forthcoming season a failure if his side didn't reach a major final.”
And of course 'Major final is our target' – Wheeldon sets sights on silverware

A bit disappointed that Vella, who said “I don’t think Wigan will win the Grand Final. I think we will.” in last year’s play-offs, and the similarly chipper Scott Murrell, who certainly has more than his fair share of HDM back page action are a bit reticent thus far, but there’s time yet.

Just silly talk. You’ll have a lovely time with pmh, Gordon Gekko and whoever is doing the DVD commentary for only their own freee self-publicity and a season pass these days. Don’t travel together though, that is the protocol for messageboard royalty.

I told you I wasn't fit to lace your boots! Great comeback.

I love Clint Newton, but only for his ability to wind up so many people with minimum effort.

Or, maybe, just maybe he (like most of us on here) realise that the 2 current starting centres have shown great form (competition for places at centre, I realise that could be an alien concept for an FC fan) and Hall will have to wait his chance whilst Welham keeps scoring hat-tricks (2 in his last 2 games) and Webster keeps putting his winger away for hat-tricks.

If he can't get a game in a months time, we might consider loaning him back to you, afterall, with Tansey now history, you need all the help you can get in your backline.

Or maybe, seeing as last seasons first choice centres have had a good pre season, Morgan feels that Hall should quite rightly, have to earn his place in the side. Hall had also had a ten hour round trip by coach the previous day and would have spent the week working on plays with the personnel selected for the Workington game.

No, wait a minute, it can't be that, that would make sense.

No, clearly, the reason must be, that having signed a player that has yet to play a competitive game for his new club, Morgan has decided that he'll never play again as he's realised that dayvoz was correct all along and Hall is utter gash.

If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.

Frederick Douglas
