I'm not so sure it would be between Scott and Ben. Ones a utility back the other is a back row forward. Scott was maybe being given some worthy game time for when we need him to come into the squad to cover injuries. Who knows there is a big chance that Mason will be here in 14days and who then gets that final spot Benny C or Big Willie?

Once Big W is here - rightly or wrongly i think he will play (He wont be here in time for 1st game unless he comes in the next 7 days though)

Ben played in the back row yesterday and it appears that the plan, going by yesterday, is to alternate him and Murrell at 13. Even if Mason arrives tomorrow i dont think that he should automatically claim a place on the bench.

If he's here by the 11th he'll play i reckon. Mason played every game for NQC last season playing an average of 55 minutes a game. Two 20 minute spells will do him the world of good and give Hull a world of pain.

Hull have a big side and are likely to be even bigger if they have to play Manu in the centre and Washbrook at 7. Taylors size could be useful but he wasnt given enough opportunity to put his best foot forward. Would Ben be so effective coming into the back row after half hour or so if we are on the back foot? Just playing Devils Advocate.
I hope so, size isn't everything, Manu at centre would be good for us with Webster and Welham in our centres and Washbrook at 7 would get eaten alive by Dobbo.

Only problem I have with Cockayne is discipline. Gave a couple of stupid pens away yesterday with over enthusiasm. Didnt matter yesterday but Tickle will turn them into 4 points at cardiff.

I dont agree with that at all, Manu is a major handfull out wide, Hull utilised him in the middle of the park to much instead of playing him out wider. I have said for a while when we have been light in the centres that i would love to see Manu running in the centre.

I think i would have to play Cockayne with the experience, especially in the derbys. Plus Ben always seems to play pritty well against Hull.

Wheeldon's game against Salford I thought was enough for him to at least be in the thoughts for a bench spot.
Our depth in this squad is unquestionably one of the best in the league, we can get an injury to just about anyone and have someone just as capable to take their spot. Ok the same amount of quality won't be there, Taylor replacing say Galea you get two different games from them but he's still just as capable of performing at this level.
For me front row is our weakest area that will improve once Vella and Fisher depart. Not saying they are not two good players but our first 7 are of top 4 quality, our back row is of top 4 quality, we just lack that same front row impact at the moment but other than Clinton, Fisher and Vella it is a pretty young front row. This is why I think Mason should be a front rower rather than an impact back rower, he can still run out wide on occasions but our current back row and outside backs seem to have a link up that is working very well. Mason may just add that front row cutting edge to put us in with a shout of surprising the top 4 or 5.
