Most real fans generally know the games will be close and not much in it either way. I prefer talking to the real rovers supporters that like to talk rugby league rather than the ( oh rovers wee'd all over u vise versa conversations) either way its bollards and it means no more to me than another 2 points and hopefully a decent game of rugby. But its usually poor technically and skillfully. Although i do generally enjoy it for the atmosphere

Sorry but I can't agree, as we are all from the same city the wind up is all part and parcel of the game in Hull and is what probably sets this derby apart from the rest of RL. It is just 2 points (or deciding whether the season continues or not  ) but it does feel either a whole lot worse or a whole lot better depending on how the result goes.

I too like to have sensible conversations with FC fans I know and work with but also like to have a bit of banter when we win or lose. To say banter is only used by non rugby fans is so very wide of the mark. Some people take it way too far I agree and I believe some people do 'hate' the other clubs which is just silly (anything past strongly dislike is unhealthy).

One question for you, does it feel exactly the same to to win or lose to us as it does if you win or lose to Harlequins?

obviously the anticipation/atmosphere and even the odd flutters in the belly in a derby game. and yeah it does feel slightly better to win this game than the others. But really im quite sick of them, and your right some people do take them way too far/hatred. And i do generally find most of my rovers mates will talk sensibly about the game which ever way the result goes. Its just a small % of them that give the banter which really isnt worth anything with the standard of rugby usually on display lol its still 2 points :)

Serious Question - do you actually know what "banter" means?

Id say 95% of both sets of fans have banter between them and other fans, family or colleagues.
so the panel took the same view as your excellent assessment.
I think thats the problem, some people don't know the difference between banter (good natured ragging of each other) and arguing (the more aggressive bile spilled by the 5% on both sides). Banter is what makes the city's rivalries special, the other is what gives it a bad name.

For those who say its got worse since the 80's either you weren't around in the 80's or you've just forgot how bad it was back then, far worse than now, people did it face to face and it went off a lot, now 99% of the worst side of the rivalry is done by keyboard wind up merchants.

At the end of the day I believe that the majority of fans from both clubs like to give good humoured banter. For those who overstep the mark ,whats the point?
Its a game when all said and done, and supporters of either team are passionate about their club, and no amount of P taking,or snide comments would really change anybodies mind.

Nothing other than 2 points,,,,,,,,,,,,,if they where a force in SL I would be over the moon but to beat a 3rd rate team is like a win over West Hull...... Expected!

Peter Gentle was rejected by Hull KR as their new head coach due to his lack of ambition.

I can`t quite see your logic. If we are 3rd rate ,yet finished more or less the same as Rovers last season, what does that make your team?

Not worth trying, it's an idiot.

If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.

Frederick Douglas
