Exactly right. ITV do have regional versions of HD channels but not for all the regions yet. And Channels 4 and 5 carry regional adverts like you say which are not replicated on their HD channel yet. So for now they won't switch. However when digital switchover is complete everywhere I think this issue will be sorted.

Slightly OT i know, but seeing as you are in the loop with regards to Sky / Cable etc. Do you know if the new Sky Atlantic channel will be availible on Virgin?

Far as I know, Virgin haven't agreed a deal for it yet. The Sky Sports Red Button is coming to Virgin in some form or other soon though.

A whole channel about a large ocean ...waste of money!!

I am on Virgin at the momment (as you know)

I was thinking of switching to BT vision as it is cheap as chips. Thing is though, you can only get SS1 and SS2. My question is.....

How many SL games are actually shown on SS3 & SS4 over the course of the season? If it is more than say 20 percent i will have to consider moving to SKY.

Most of the Championship matches will be on Sky Sports 3 or 4 but if you don't mind losing them..... By a quick count - Only 4 of 47 Wigan games shown in the last 3 seasons were on either Sky Sports 3, Sky Sports 4 or live on the Red Button only (two of them were Magic Weekend games). So 91.5% of Wigan games were on Sports 1 or 2.


So far in February and March this year.

14 Live Super League Matches + World Club Challenge on Sky Sports 1
5 Live Super League Matches + 1 Championship Match on Sky Sports 2
3 Championship Matches + Varsity Match on Sky Sports 4.
No games on Sky Sports 3.

as long as i get a picture on my telly ill be fine..........or are we having a repeat of when they turned off the analogue signal and it took me days to find out why i couldnt get channel 4 racing on my portable???

Well if your happy your happy. The difference is a much better quality and sharper and more colourful picture. Must admit I've had HD for four years and I do sit there though and think hmmm this isn't that good. Then I flick back to Standard Def and realise the difference all over again. It's vast but I'm not sure the extra tenner is worth it for most. Depends how much sport you watch, I watch loads and loads so.....
