You're right, it would be hard, but there are many things you have to take into consideration when wondering why certain managers fail there. Inter have an experienced squad, a squad that had been pushed to the limit psychologically by Mourinho, after that, they'll never give it all again because they just went through that with Jose. Add to that Benitez isn't a coach renowned for his ability to motivate players psychologically; he expects players to motivate themselves, his type of coaching requires highly motivated players, that's why Benitez was forever signing and selling, because as soon as he thought someone was weak mentally, he would want them gone. You could say that's poor coaching, you could claim it's too awkward, but it's clear as day he was the wrong man to appoint to replace Jose, as Rafa isn't the type to come in and keep things ticking over, he's the type to come in and make wholesale changes across the board. Add to that Inter had a fair amount of injuries, the only way they would go was down.
Still, I think that shows a weakness in Rafa as a manager, as he doesn't develop relationships with players, and seems to rely on the players to motivate themselves instead of his own ability to motivate. He does need to change and I feel he should have a year or two away from the game.
