Could have got into a bit of trouble at the CC Final (Wire v Wigan), Iro scored and threw the ball at Drummonds face due to a dirty tackle. Drummond took offence and threw probably one of the hardest punches ever seen, karate punch to the chin.
To be fair to Iro, he handled it very well (his neck went back and then he laid into Iro, mass brawl ensued).
Hmmm. According to Wikipedia and other sources it wasn't karate at all, but judo, and he was British Amateur Judo Champion - and I know he took some judo/wrestling sessions at Rochdale last year. The karate legend seems to be nothing more than an urban myth.
I'm not saying he wasn't a remarkable athlete and person, and a tough cookie, but let's try and inject a bit of truth into the hype surrounding Drummond's invincibility.

Quote:The Wigan and Great Britain prop was involved in a fist-fight in Brisbane that came close to matching the notoriety of Holyfield-Tyson and Lewis- Akinwande. More solid punches were landed than in either of those bouts, most of them around O'Connor's head by the Brisbane Broncos' Gorden Tallis. "I didn't do too badly with the couple I got in," O'Connor says. "Broke his nose."
Quote:And O'Connor, who claimed after their bout in Brisbane that his wife hits harder than Tallis, has promised to follow his coach's advice when the two men come face to face again tonight.

...and in my opinion, he carried out the most cowardly act I have ever seen on a rugby pitch! Deliberately running in full steam to elbow Morley square on the jaw as he was being held up by his Wigan team-mates.

Ballcocks. Nickle went in with elbows, fists, knees every week. He just wasn't skilful enough to connect properly, whereas our Mick (looking for a bit of retribution after a cheap smash on Robbie McCormack) managed it first time. Not nice, but don't pretend your lot didn't go in for nasty stuff - like Fogerty and his headbutt for example.

Watch the video. Tallis looks good and lands a few by throwing them first, but when Terry connects he splats Gordon's nose all over Brisbane. When they go off Terry is just pssed off, but Tallis has to go down on his haunches holding his streaming nose, having been smacked good n' proper.
