Super league giants?

Did charlie mullin write that article?

200 miles apart and both skint

Actually, Town are one of the few RL clubs that aren't skint having made a decent profit in each of the last 4 years.

don't worry too much about gekko's comment's, you will often find him on here spouting crud, sometimes i think he is the bustard love child of mrs b, a former poster on this board.

i'm sure the link up will beifit all parties, but i do agree with an earlier post which mentioned why not choose a team closer to home? like east hull.

HOW on earth do you get NILLED at Wembley ?
When your coach isn't a winner at heart and Gentle is not a winner at heart .
We were a pub team
I coached for a long time and we won 95% of games because winning is a mental state driven by a desire to CRUSH an opposition. Did FC look as though they wanted to Crush Wigan and strangle them until they screamed ? NO
RL is a tough tough game and Maylord She-dong you have no clue
In fact don't ever ever reply to any of my posts again

Makes perfect sense really. You would think that Rovers are already keeping tabs on the best kids around that locality, along with several other SL clubs. West Cumbria has no SL presence and has a lot of talented kids. Two of the players in the recently announced England Youth squad were Workington scholarship lads, though they're shown as Wigan players having signed for Wigan a couple of weeks before the squad was announced. If Rovers can get a head start in tapping into the talent pool in West Cumbria then they may get a lot of benefit out of it.

Sounds good!!! Though i think the reality of it will be considerably different. Getting young players to relocate 200 miles away (in either direction) on £7k-£9k (which is basically what these youngsters get offered) per year is going to be incredibly difficult, if not impossible. Particularly when you consider they have to pass the likes of Wigan. Saints, Wire, Bradford and Leeds along the way all of whom, both historically and currently, have a far better record on player development than Rovers. If young Cumbrian players value their career opportunities, Hull KR would be way down the pecking order in all honesty.

Its not that hard to pick holes in what is clearly a PR excercise.

Was waiting for that one, and you didn't disappoint.

Hull announce they have signed a decent young player from Cumbria, 3 days later and not to be outdone Rovers announce a partnership with a Cumbrian club. Not really sure what Rovers current crop of half decent youngsters would get out of travelling up to your neck of the woods to play at a level only a small notch up from Conference rugby and i'm not sure where any of Workingtons youngsters would fit in at HKR.

Its all PR mate and more to do with trying to outdo FC and take some of the heat out of the Mason saga. 12 months down the line it will all be forgotten about :)

Agreed; surely a link up with York/sheffield type teams would make more sense anyway, Along with our great ties with Grimsby which seems to be going errrr great :?
