It would be interesting to see if Beckham can hack the pace of the Premiership these days. I very much doubt it - even Thierry Henry was joking with his mates at Sky that he would struggle and he's a couple of years younger isn't he?

You sign Beckham for cameos and his apparent influence as a professional. He will also raise the profile of your club ten-fold. But he also brings a circus with him. Swings and roundabouts.

He wouldn't get into a fully fit Spurs team. However to suggest that Tom Huddlestone is a better passer of the ball than him is the kind of comic genius not seen on these shores since Eric Morecombe passed away. RIP Eric, your spirit lives on on RL Fans.

Me: I'm still reeling from the news that someone is considering watching the 1st and 3rd game on Saturday and NOT watching Warrington play. It's like being in Shea Stadium when the Beatles came to town and deciding to nip out for a fag.

knockersbumpMKII: Is it FOOK, you're good but you're not THAT good, jesus you wanky fans need to get over yourselves, Beatles at the Shea in '65 was a once in a lifetime opportunity for some (despite the following years performance), you can watch a very good team in primrose & yellow play every week if you really wanted to but comparing it to one of the very best music groups of all time in an iconic stadia such as the shea is overegging your importance, you're not even the best team in SL atm

What an utterly biased blog. My favourite line "a temporary boost in shirt sales". Brilliant. Beckhams being there has brought LA Galaxy unprecedented media attention which is exactly what they wanted. Would the New York Red Bulls be attracting Henry if it wasn't for Beckham? I doubt it.

On the loan deals, what is best for the MLS and LA Galaxy - a megastar who's past it, or a megastar who is a current England international? Capello said that if he was to be picked for England he'd have to prove he can still hack it in Europe.

Spurs signing him would be tremendous for them, regardless of what anyone says. He wouldn't start every game, but he would give them a tremendous option off the bench.

I've always thought the reaction to Beckham has been far too extreme, both ways. He's never been as good or deserving in the praise that he gets, nor has he deserved the criticism that has sometimes come his way.

I think he would be a useful addition to Spurs squad, giving them options off the bench and an extra body for the cup games. He dosnt seem to have such an ego that he would expected to start every week.

But if I were Redknapp I'd only sign him if he stayed to the end of the season. Just signing him for a few weeks doesnt seem to make much sense. If he does well it would create a void when he left. If he were to have a couple of quiet games early on there wouldnt be much incentive to persist with him.

yes,i've always felt the same about him - when Hoddle first put him in the England squad I thought he (Hoddle = God) was completely bonkers ! I was soon eating humble pie..........
What Becks has lacked in ability he has more than made up for in sheer hard work IMO

maybe Bentley could have a few training sessions with him,if he stays beyond the window - the ability is there I believe,somewhere...

Spoken like a true biased Red.

He is a circus act and finished. A joke.

Let me guess, a United fan?

All the United fans might get an erection at seeing their fantasy boyfriend back in the PL, but it would probably create far more of a distraction to what Spurs want.

Sometimes you can seem quite intelligent, knowledgeable even, others, like this United fans/Beckham jibe, you can make yourself look a total idiot

In this case however he is 100% spot on.

I am a biased United fan! I can't come back.

To say he's finished is a bit much. Harry Redknapp wants him. He clearly feels he can offer something.
