I know Hull bang on about O'Meley and Fitzgibbon, but i'd say Kearney and Swain were far better for them in terms of influencing games and they commanded every bit as much respect.
TBF i don't think Rovers have had any overseas players of that stature (which i think is what the o/p is on about) as of yet in the SL era, at least until Big Willie arrives

To be fair I'd take performance over stature any day of the week. Pat Richards being the prime example, came over here without a huge rep but has been absolutely outstanding for Wigan and seems to be getting better.
Go back a couple of years and we'd have all given our right arms to have Orford, now I'm glad we ended up with Dobbo.
I reckon SL has more big name aussies who have failed to live up to their rep than ones who have performed.

true, but boy did we have some good ones before the superleague era, (sorry sky sports I know rugby league didn't exist before superleague ), I'd love to see players of the calibre of broadhurst, prohm, smith, niebling etc. playing for us again.
also another superstar to add to the O/P's list Allan Langer at Warrington

I agree 100%, and i'd say clubs had better value from their overseas players in those days. It was golden era in the early 80's for both Hull clubs, Rovers with Broadhurst, Prohm, Smith and Dorahy and Hull with Kemble, Leuliui, O'Hara, Ah Koi.
Amazing. All that success for both Hull clubs and only 4 foreigners a piece!!! Happy days
(PS - and we were also way behind the aussies then, just as we are now )

Sterling at Hull, Brett Kenny at Wigan, Wally Lewis at Wakey. All great, but perhaps the biggest would have to be Menninga at Saints. All these were in the 80's and the quality of imports has been significantly lower throughout the SL era, with a few minor exceptions (Adrian Rainey at Rovers )

I don't disagree. But i think the point of the thread is about performance and stature, though admittedly there aren't many overseas players over the past 10/12years who have succesfully filled both requirements.
