That sounds unlikely, frankly. Are other players going to be prevented from playing by this ongoing investigation? Charges would have to be brought, at very least, by either the police or NRL for a player to be suspended. And that'd make the press.
I suppose it might feasibly put a visa-application on hold, which would be pretty serious. Or maybe his ex-team-mate is on a wind-up.

I didnt say he couldn't play. Police enquiries usually insist that anyone under questioning is stopped from leaving the Country. However if he is in Tonga this may disprove that theory, unless they were conditions that were stated?

I am speculating on something an ex Rovers player involved in the betting thing is telling people in Aussie, not giving fact here.
