I don't gamble really demon, but I'm prepared to on this one! - that the assailant(s) is NOT the arrested man!

I only missed the Toulouse game last year out of the entire league programme. I thought this year I might get all of them in but I will be giving the Shay a miss next year. I thought it was just me but surprisingly (to me at least) it appears I'm not the only one!

Why so Robin? I would like as many away fans to come to the BF as possible. We don't want people to boycott us so why would we boycott anyone else.

You have to remember that many people who post on Forums represent the extreme ends of the fan base.

perhaps i might feel differently in a few months time Martin but I've spoken to quite a few that for now at least, Fax away will not be a fixture they will be watching unless it's on telly!

As far as i am aware its vice versa on that one pal, However i dont know why your feeling like that, the agression was towards halifax that day by what is now clearly mindless band wagon jockeys who only went along for trouble and not for the day supporting your team.

I have noticed that you have been very defensive towards the person arrested and bailed, is there any paticular reason for this ?. do you know him ?. ( and i am not claiming you do, just a straight forward question ) I can't understand why you defend someone so much if you dont know the person connected.

From personal experience i dont hold out any hope for the assailent to be caught, A friend of mine was attacked on water lane in halifax, was in hospital for 5 months, suffered blood clots which had to be removed and strokes due to the damage caused, the police arrested and knew who had done it but for the lack of forensic proof never even got a slap on the wrist. it is now a good 18 month - 2 years on and still nothing. The man has never been the same since.

The time is not yet right to post my observations of that day on open forum.
However, as I feel at the mo, I (and by the sounds of things, quite a few others) really do not feel like going to the Shay. You will survive without my money I'm sure!


I believe the arrested man to be innocent of any crime that day - and I believe that no charges will be brought against him. Whether I know him or not is largely irrelevant. I've been wrong before - but on this occasion time will prove if I have got this one correct.

I don't share your pessimism. I believe an arrest and charge of suspected assailants will be brought about in due course.

If what you sat Robin is correct about the arrested man not being the assailant then it is a worry because the more time that passes the harder the job gets for the police as potential witnesses disappear into the ether.
As for visiting Fax next season, I am seriously considering not going to any away fixtures and just concentrating on watching the reserves and academy as well as the home fixtures of the first team.The brutal attack on a fan regardless of who has committed the crime has shook me up big style and I'm not sure that I want to travel away anymore. Probably by the time the season starts i'll want my away rugby fix especially after being sat at home when the team are away but as of now I'm pretty set in my mind.
That is not a sleight on the great fans who travel away, I know that they are fantastic, loyal supporters who aren't interested in anything except having a good time and watching their team.

I tell you what the worry is, its the fact that you can be arrested in the way the man was in front of his family and hauled off to Warrington for 2 days on the flimsiest piece of evidence iv ever heard, because if its that easy then were all in trouble
