My husband will be pleased that he has a 2 year pay freeze and the threat of redundancy hanging over his head but the Council are using £4.2m of public money that could possibly save some redundancies and give HCC workers their 2% cost of living rise for this year. Its just been reported on Look North that the Council need to save so many million this year and it has been suggested that Hull Truck may have to close and Museums will only open 3 days a week. The new plans for Orchard Park have also been shelved which admittidly is Central Government but there are going to be some very angry Hull Citizens over the spending on your stand.
Not a case of sour grapes or jealously by the way, just don't think now is the right time for the Council to be spending that sort of money.
I have to ask you hull white star if the boot was on the other foot would you say the same thing. I hate to drag up old mud but when the council bought the boulevard and built the kc stadium did you say the same then i didn't hear a lot of hull fc fans moaning then more crowing and rubbing our noses in it. could it be that because the fact its towards hull kr that,s wrong and not hull fc. but i do take your point re cutbacks in today's environment and i personally empathise with you. I didn't know about council involvement in this til today. my understanding was that funding was from sporting bodies ie sport England.

We were not "all in this together" then and having to deal with "major spending cut backs". So in answer to your question yes I would say the same thing if it meant my husband was facing redundancy with HCC and we could stand to lose our house because I don't work. If it meant I would have a roof over my head (I'm in a bungalow because of my disability) then have a stand built and or developed then I know what is more important to me. If this was 5 years ago and a different economic climate then I wouldn't have a problem, infact quite the opposite.
I'm very pleased you'll be getting a new stand, just not at the expense of my husbands wages or quite possibly his job.

Thank you. I just feel its a slap in the face for all the Council Workers (Including Connaught workers) who have been or could be made redundant in the near future and those Council Workers who have a 2 year pay freeze to deal with on top of that. I know its been sorted now but only on Thursday we had all the trouble with those poor people who where hoping to move and Hull City Council said it had no money to help them yet they "found" over £4million for your stand I know its now been revealed that it is a "loan" but the money still has to be available in the first place.

This is a private company and is NOT the responsibility of the rate paters of Hull, it was down to bad management and undercutting pricing that got those people redundant.
The cost of the stand is costing the ratepayers of Hull NOTHING, a big fat zero. I think you should read the facts correctly before assuming anything, no capital outlay from the council just a loan covered by repayments from the end users.

Having just read the "facts" according to Phil Webster, I now understand how it works. Maybe Phil could speak with the HDM cos it was after reading their report that the Council were funding £4 mill that started this thread
