Which would be great if they employed local builders, electricians etc but as we saw in the floods most of the workers were from out of town.

If it is a loan as you suggest then what kind of favourable agreement will that loan cover? That in itself is still a handout. I'm yet to see evidence though that this is a loan and not a grant.
From the council meeting itself. I think if you ask nicely they will relay the information to your goodself aswell
Standing up to the forum bully.

The council effectively acts as a guarantor, so it can't really be characterized as a hand-out.

So would I, but that'd be a hard sell. Costs will be shared with two other partners though. And there is an European Regional Development Fund grant application too.

This is, technically, the East Stand thread. So much progress, it can get confusing.

this thread is about the East stand extension, hence the "funding released for the East stand extension" title, does my post even mention the North Stand?

Not really the role of Yorkshire forward was to attract businesses to set up in the area and it turned quickly into a quango embroiled in red tape. I'm not dismissing the fact this is a 'handout', what I am saying is that it will generate a short term gain in local industry as it has to be built and possibly a few jobs long term with whatever the facility is used for.
This funding is in no way related to the job losses at the council which will take place regardless of whether the new stand is built or not. The government has decided to cut back on civil servants and quango's as it sees them as non value adding.

Keep your hair on, I was mis-lead by the thread drift into the other end of the ground!
Sort it out Rovers, too much re-development work for us to keep up! Stands at Craven Park are like buses, you wait 3 years and nowt, then they all appear at once! (The bus analogy can end there)
