Unfortunatly this year's Derby showed they are not machines as Eye On The Storm looked potentially one of the greats but breaks down in the first round and has to be carried off into retirement.
Would not put anyone off Rayvin Geovanni but I think ante post the boat has been missed for now and I doubt him or any other greyhound will be lower than 8 or 10/1 when the Derby begins and as he has yet to have much racing the hectic Derby month might not suit him as he has been handled with kid gloves so far. Until he competes regularly through competitions the jury has to be out.
As for the All England Cup that is his real test and even Eye On The Storm was not so highly tried this early in his career but if he comes through that with flying colours then yes he is the real deal and my idea 20/1 is a tad short could be blown out of the water.
Sadly history repeated itself with Geovanni getting a career ending injury last night in a similar fashion to Eye On The Storm in May and again we are denied watching a potential superstar in the making fulfil their potential and ironically Tudor Prince also got knocked over at Belle Vue in his race though he is fine and entered in the All England Cup.
