Wonderful news and testament to all the hard work many people have put in over the last two years. However, having only been in the country for a few hours I have to say i'm not so happy in the way the local bbc are reporting this news. I just can't help thinking that if this were on the other side of the M62 and was a Leeds proposal they would be a lot more supportive of the decision.
Is it really true that in the last 24hrs we have had our tax bill cleared and been granted planning permission on a new stadium?!
I must be dreaming cos those kind of things don't happen to Wakefield. Or do they....
Massive congratulations to everyone that worked tirelessly to get us to this stage. We aren't there yet but we're a hell of a lot closer than we wouldve been if this day hadn't proved so fruitful.

In complete contrast to the news report on Calendar, completely positive and nothing about 'hugely controversial plans' and 'public inquirys'. Which broadcaster do we subsidise again?!
Anyway, enough negative vibes from me. Once again well done all.

Gowerthegroap, no it isn't. It's still feet firmly on the ground time, we have jumped a massive hurdle today and one that had we failed could/would have killed off our club. But we still have the SoS to deal with and as far as I know the taxman still isn't on our Xmas card list and us, not on his. I will definately crack open the port tonight, but until I see diggers and our mystery creditor materialises a bit, I'm gonna remain as calm as possible. But just for tonight and to trb added an extra during edit.

The 2 names I've heard mentioned are David Seymour (more than a few times) and Colin Mackie. I'm inclined to believe that it's DS. More to come by all counts too! Well we're defiantly a better investment than people believed even last week!
Is that a partition in the dark cloud that's hung over the Merrie city for many a year???
Step forward the white knight of Newmarket.

I love this city, this is my town. We get a week out, without a doubt, gunna sing it out loud. i love my city this is my town, we get a week out, without a doubt, gunna sing it out loud

What was said by Look North? I only caught the end of the piece, with the daft woman saying that it had to go to public review so her concerns could be answered.

They went on about the hundreds of people who were against the development, then they interviewed this women, she was from one of the groups against the build ,and she said they would fight on and the decision that had been made was bias, which made me laugh. I think it has been proved what most thought, that the NIMBYS were just that and they were spreading lies and untruths, when it came down to it they were found wanting.
